He completed graduation in Mechanical Engineering from the National School of College of Engineering (RVCE). In 1989, at age 19, he played his first national match against Hyderabad. At that moment, he played on behalf of the Karnataka team. Then Anil Kumble was chosen from the Indian Under-19 Test group. Within this category, Pakistan scored magnificent 113 and 76 runs against U-19. They were categorized in the Indian ODI team as a result of new great batting and bowling.
