An exemplary in the area of dance, Helen is a Burma born Indian actress who took birth on 21st November 1938 in Yangon, Burma. She has been actively operating in the Indian Film Industry since 1951.
Helen Biography, Relationship & Career
Helen first introduced into the Hindi movies by her friend and an actress for the job of a chorus-dancer from the movies Awara and Shabistan in 1951. Then after she had been signed for the part of a solo dancer for those films like Hoor-e-Arab and Alif Laila. However, her career major breakthrough occurred through the movie Howrah Bridge (a movie by Shakti Samant) where she’s had a dance performance in the song”Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu” sung by Geeta Dutt. In the first phase of her career, Geeta Dutt was the singer that sang many songs for her where she gave her dance performance.
Her first-ever movie was Hum Hindustani in 1960 where she played the lead role along with Sunil Dutt and Joy Mukherjee. In between 60 and ’70s, Bollywood legendary playback singer, Asha Bhosle sang a lot of songs where Helen gave her dance hit amounts. In 1965, she looked at the film Gumnaam in a supportive role. For her acting in this picture, she had been given the Best Supporting Actress at the Filmfare Awards. She played a stressed role in Shakti Samanta’s movie Pagla Kahin Ka in 1970. In that, she portrayed the role of a rape victim. Bollywood renowned writer Salim Khan helped to set herself in the film business by indicating her title for the movies where he co-scripted with Javad Akhtar. In the 70’s she appeared as a dancer and supporting actress in some of the hit movies of the decade such as Caravan, Hulchul, Upaasna, Mere Jeevan Saathi, Do Gaz Zameen Ke Neeche, Anamika, Geeta Mera Naam, Sholay, Imaan Dharam, Khoon Pasina, Amar Akbar Anthony and Don.
In 1979, she played a supportive role in the movie Lahu Ke Do Rang 1979. Helen chose to have retired from the movies in 1983, but then, she appeared in a guest role in the Amount of the Bollywood films like Khamoshi: The Musical, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Mohabbatein, Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, and Heroine among others.
She had been born to Jairag and Marlene Richardson. She has two brothers called Roger Jairag, Richard Jairag, and a sister called Jennifer Richardson. She’s married to actor/Dialog author Salim Khan since 1981 and collectively has a daughter Arpita Khan.
