Jonathan Marc Bairstow (born 26 September 1989) is a British cricketer, who performs globally for England and domestically for Yorkshire. A right-hand batsman, he’s the sole England wicket-keeper to double claim nine dismissals in a Test match, against South Africa in January 2016, and against Sri Lanka in May 2016. Just Jack Russell (11 dismissals vs South Africa, 1995), and Bob Taylor (10 dismissals versus India 1980) have promised more in one Test match.

Jonny Barristow is arguably among the most feared opening batsmen of recent times. Since his dad was a cricketer, he had been introduced to the gentleman’s’ match from a really young age. After having some impressive performances in the age level cricket, he left his outstanding introduction at 19 by playing for Yorkshire. Following some consistent performances for a few years, he was inducted into the England Lions squad.
From that point, he had been included in England’s squad for the tour of Ireland. He, however, wasn’t chosen from the playing XI. He scored 41 of 21 and helped England win that game. The next year, he had been included in England’s squad for the ICC World T20. He failed miserably and since that time has been in and out of the side. He has now become a normal member of the Test group.
Following Jason Roy and Alex Hales formed a formidable opening set, he had to overlook the majority of the games as Jos Butler became England’s first-choice wicketkeeper. After Roy was dropped because of bad form, Barristow came in and made sure he becomes England’s first pick opener and has cemented his place. His explosive batting has won his sides many matches. A hard-hitting opening batsman is always lucrative at the T20 leagues and thus that he had been chosen by IPL franchise SRH at the IPL participant auction 2019. Although his availability was limited to the first 3 weeks, he left his impact in the exact second match by scoring a blistering 100 against RCB. He’ll be England’s key player in the forthcoming 2019 World Cup.
