Separamadu Lasith Malinga (Sinhala: සෙපරමාදු ලසිත් මාලිංග; born 28 August 1983) is a Sri Lankan cricketer and present T20 global captain of Sri Lanka. He’s a right-arm fast bowler that’s usually utilized as a specialist departure bowler, and is recognized for his distinctive round-arm activity, sometimes known as a sling action, which contributes to his nicknames,’ Slinga Malinga’.

Many as one of the best fast bowlers to have represented his nation, Separamadu Lasith Malinga from Galle, Srilanka began his international cricket career by playing against Australia in 2004 at age 21 only. Shortly he earned a reputation for bothering the competitor’s batsman with his reckless in-swingers and swift bouncers. In his early days, his bowling rate was between 140 to 150 kph.
Malinga was detected and trained by ChampakaRamanayake, a former Sri Lankan cricketer, when he had been studying at Vidyaloka College, Galle. Champaka helped him to combine the Mahinda School Cricket Team which was a turning point in his career. He was also an admirer of Malinga’s natural bowling actions apart from Sir Viv Richards who in later years praised him for his unique round-arm bowling style, which earned him the nickname’SlingaMalinga’.
Although he had suffered many injuries for which he needed to step down from captaincy in the T20 world cup group, there’s a substantial variety of both test and ODI records that Malinga holds to date, such as being the only bowler with two world cup hat tricks and being the only one to take three hat tricks in ODI cricket history.
He’s also been appointed by the ICC as the official event ambassador for the World T20 Championships.
Malinga was a diminished force throughout the 2015 World Cup and became considerably slower in his later years, where he put on weight. After missing out on the majority of the action following the 2015 World Cup, he made a comeback in 2018 and kept his place at the side. He was also called the Captain and has determined that he’ll bid adieu to the game after the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.
