Manmohan Singh has finished his degree and postgraduate studies at the University of Punjab. He moved to Cambridge University later. He then got D. Phil from the University of Oxford. His book, India’s export trends and prospects for self-safe growth, is believed to be India’s first and most crucial trade policy criticism. Dr. Singh gained considerable fame as an economics instructor.

In 1971 there was Dr. Singh was appointed an economic advisor to the Indian Ministry of Trade and Industry. Immediately then, in 1972, he was appointed Chief Economic Adviser to the Minister of Finance. In the following years, he had been the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Committee, the Governor of the Reserve Bank, the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisor, and the Chairman of the University Grant Commission. So the most economic turning point in India’s economic history happened in the period between 1991 and 1996 when he became India’s Finance Minister.

In this position, he worked consistently for five decades, even while in 1990 he became the financial adviser of the Prime Minister. At this time, Dr. Manmohan Singh wasn’t a member of the Rajya Sabha or even the Lok Sabha.

He took power, he completely stopped the’ License Raj’ scheme, under which any change in any company would be obtained for the approval of the authorities. Some private companies benefited enormously from this sort of scheme, freeing them from the nation’s economic benefits. He had been chosen as a member of Rajya Sabha in 1998 and became the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Too from 1998 until 2004.

Following the 2004 general election success, UPA won, Congress President Sonia Gandhi announced Manmohan Singh India’s next Prime Minister. Manmohan Singh wasn’t actually a Lok Sabha member, few Indians likely understood.
