Raj Kapoor Biography, Relationship & Career
He’s often called ‘The best showman of Indian cinema’. Being born in a well-known family in the Bollywood film business, he had a passion for movies. He appeared on screen, the first time when he was really young. He was featured in the film ‘Inquilab’ in 1945. He worked for 12 years and after that hard work, he made his debut as a lead performer with the film’ Neel Kamal’ featuring the gorgeous actress Madhubala in 1947.
He created R. K. Movies in 1948. He directed the movie ‘Aag’ featuring Premnath, Kamini Kaushal, and Nargis and acted in the movie. With this film, he became the youngest manager. His film ‘Andaz’ featuring Nargis, Dilip Kumar in 1949 was his powerful movie as a performer.’ He continued working as a producer and produced several hit movies like Awaara, Shree 420, Jagte Raho, Jis Desh Men Ganga Behti Hai beneath R.K. Banner. He also acted in such films and he was looked at as ‘The Tramp’ that is one of the famous personalities of Charlie Chaplin. He gave several hits to the movie industry.
The romantic film ‘Sangam’ featuring Vyjayantimala and Rajendra Kumar was his 1st color picture. He started both of his sons, Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor. He produced female protagonist’s movies like Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Prem Rog, and Ram Teri Ganga Maili. He was the man who introduced several famous actors and actresses to the Indian Cine market. He also introduced music manager Shankar-Jaikishan. In the later part of his life, he worked as a supporting actor in several movies including movies like Naukri, etc. His last movie appearance was with his brother Shashi Kapoor from the film ‘Vakil Babu’ in 1982. His final work in acting was his cameo appearance in a TV movie titled ‘Kim’ in 1984.
Raj Kapoor suffered from asthma in the next part of his life. The veteran died because of health complications caused because of asthma. He was of 63 years and expired on 2nd June 1988 in New Delhi, India.
He had been born to Ramsarni Devi Kapoor and legendary actor Prithviraj Kapoor. Popular celebrities Shashi and Shammi Kapoor were his brothers. He married Krishna Malhotra in 1946 and they had been blessed with 5 children including famous actors Randhir Kapoor, Rajiv Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, and two brothers, Rima Jain and Ritu Nanda. Babita and Neetu Singh are his daughter-in-laws and industrialist Rajan Nanda and investment banker Manoj Jain will be the sons-in-law.
