Shreyas Santosh Iyer (born 6 December 1994) is an Indian cricketer, who plays India in international cricket, Mumbai in domestic cricket and captains Delhi Capitals from the Indian Premier League. A right-handed top-order batsman, Iyer has played One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals for the India national cricket team. He played for the India Under-19 cricket team in the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Shreyas Iyer was only 12 years old when he was discovered by the trainer Pravin Amre in the Shivaji Park Gymkhana. It was Pravin Amre who coached and assisted him in his first cricketing career. Iyer teammates and type of play was compared to the mythical Virender Sehwag by his teammates. He was a prodigy because his youth and therefore his initial degree cricket travel is well crafted and made from recorded short-film known as’Shreyas Iyer Documentary – A Father’s Dream. It was led by the renowned cricket specialist Aayush Puthran.
It was in the year 2014 when Shreyas played for the Trent Bridge Cricket Team during a visit to the United Kingdom, he represented them in three games and scored 297 runs at an astounding average of 99. Shreyas Iyer subsequently made his first-class debut for Mumbai at the 2014-15 year and in his debut season, he became the highest run scorer for them in that season and immediately came to the reckoning. He’s made number three position by himself in the Mumbai domestic group.
From the 2015 IPL player auctions, Iyer was in demand and produced a lot of buzzes he had been sold for a handsome 2.6 crores into the IPL group Delhi Daredevils. This Iyer, he became the highest paid uncapped player in the IPL. He did not disappoint as he scored 439 runs in that season representing the Delhi Daredevils with a mean of 33.76 and a strike rate of almost 130. His second season with Mumbai was even more successful as he scored 1,321 runs at one first-class season. He scored as many as seven half-centuries and four centuries at an average of 73.39, and consequently became the top scorer of the Indian national season.
His prolific run-making earned him a place in the Indian Test side when Australia toured India in 2017. He though wasn’t included in the playing eleven. But he did not get the chance to bat in his first game, he eventually got his opportunities in the next match and seemed promising until he got out on 23. He had been given an extended run when he got selected for the Sri Lanka Series at December 2017 and made the most of his opportunities as he played with a gem of an innings of 88 in just his second ODI. He was soon left from the side because of some poor performances. He made a comeback in the national side in 2019 and since that time has made number 4 spot his own in white ball cricket.
