Thulasi Nair Biography, Relationship & Career
At age 14, Thulasi was initially considered for a role in director Mani Ratnam’s Kadal after being advocated by celebrity Suhasini to audition for the lead character in November 2011. She was originally rejected with the manager noting she was “too young for the role”, prior to the group opted to sign her subsequent Samantha’s departure from the job. She’d feature alongside fellow debutant Gautham Karthik in the major roles, coincidentally 32 years after her mum and Gautham’s dad had debuted together in Bharathiraja’s Alaigal Oivathillai (1981). Thulasi lost twelve kilograms to the movie and she moved through a set of pre-production workshops conducted by celebrity Kalairani prior to the first program. Portraying the role of Beatrice, a young nurse with a kid like character, Thulasi worked alongside an ensemble cast including Arvind Swamy and Arjun and shot scenes across coastal Tamil Nadu. Her look was kept away from the media before launch, using a clause in her contract preventing her from partaking in a media interaction. The movie opened in February 2013 to mixed reviews and the movie became a commercial failure at the box office. Thulasi’s performance won positive reviews from critics, with Rediff.com noting that”if the script demands that she come to life, in the end, she manages to do it well. ” Likewise, another reviewer added “Thulasi, is organic and has lent an air of elegance to her character”, while Sify.com composed “though she’s very small screen space, she’s tried her best to do a reasonable job of their young, chirpy girl. ” Her performance attracted nominations for Best Female Debut Actress in the Vijay Awards and the South Indian International Movie Awards in 2014.
Before the launch of Kadal, cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran signed on Thulasi to appear at a major role in his maiden directorial venture, Yaan (2014). In Yaan, Thulasi played with Srila, daughter of a retired defense officer, who resides in Chennai. Featuring alongside Jiiva, the movie was shot in Morocco and published in October 2014 to negative reviews and became a surprise failure at the box office. She received mostly negative reviews for her portrayal with Behindwoods.com imagining”she gets a much better outing this time and contains some selection of expressions in her bag”. In contrast, Rediff. Com wrote that she’s”barely recognizable”, and that”there’s hardly any chemistry between the lead group” while describing the movie as a”dreadful bore”.
She was born into a movie actress Radha and Rajasekaran Nair. She has a sister called Karthika Nair (Actress) and a brother called Vignesh Nair.
